Anonymous said: Can we talk about scare cams for a second? I'm like, seriously afraid to go to the grocery store because I'm afraid I'll basically get assaulted "for the vine" or scare cam. I've seen some in bloody clown costumes chase runners on a darkened path. Nutella poop pranks. The only time I accept I will be scared is at a haunted house (or other 'haunted' thing).
I completely understand. I’m even uneasy about the silly prank cams in which someone will unexpectedly sit down next to/start talking to someone and it startles them (Jerome Jarre does a lot of these). But those are more excusable because I think they try to err on the side of harmless but a bit rude to interrupt someone, I guess.
But the ones where people scare or assault others “for the vine?” Unacceptable. And I say this especially fervently as a person with extreme anxiety, that could be genuinely harmful to someone’s emotional AND physical health. When you haven’t consented to be scared (and are therefore assured that it’s going to be a harmless thrill and not something malicious), I think it’s unethical for people to assault strangers like that just for the hell of it.
But yeah. That stuff is gross. I hope my followers won’t support people who make that kind of video/vine and won’t watch them and contribute to their overall views.
